The Friction Risk Index (FRI) is not a compatibility score. It is a measure of where friction is most likely to arise in your relationship, and how significant it is likely to be.
Why we built the FRI
Compatibility percentages flatten the picture. Two couples can score identically while having very different risk profiles. The FRI was developed to surface these differences — to point at specific dimensions like communication or finance where risk is highest.
The five FRI dimensions
We measure Communication Mismatch, Conflict Avoidance Risk, Financial Friction, Family Boundary Tension, and Goal Divergence. Each is scored on a three-level risk band: Low, Moderate, and High.
What to do with High scores
A High score is not a red flag; it is a call to action. Most can be navigated successfully with honest conversation. Use the provided starters to open dialogue without creating defensiveness.
